Description

Originally built as a terminus with the intent of continuing the line towards Exeter, instead the curved Weymouth branch line was built to the south. Trains had to reverse in and out of the straight stub of track to access the platforms until others were built on the curve of the branch line, this was not until 1970 for eastbound trains. The original straight portion of was track removed but the original buildings remained in use until 1989 and were later demolished
