SD 81 SW HEYWOOD CASTLE HILL ROAD
5/9 Castle Hill and Castle Wood II
House, now two houses, C18 and early C19. Ashlar dressed stone and watershot stone with slate roofs. The double depth 3-bay, 2-storey C19 house with central entrance and stair and C20 garage extension was built in front of but abutting the older rear range which now has various C20 flat-roofed appendages. Stone plinth, quoins, frieze and cornice. 8-panel door has 3-pane overlight, moulded architrave and cornice. Five 16-pane sash windows. Coped gables and gable stacks. The rear section is treated similarly but is of 4 bays and uses dressed stone in place of watershot.
