LONG WHATTON MAIN STREET SK 4723 13/195 The Cedars - II

Former hosiery workshop and cottage with later house to left, at one time used as school, now a house. Mid C19 with late C19 house extension. Red brick, plain tiled roofs, 2 brick chimneys. 2 storeys. Long workshop range has hori- zontal sliding sashes with wooden glazing bars, the lower windows with segmental header arches. Ground floor has 5-light and a 7-light window, and left window altered to C20 3-light wooden casement. First floor has 2 2-light windows to left, and 3 other windows of 6, 5 and 4 lights. Between ground floor left windows is a flush-panelled door in moulded architrave frame with flat wooden hood. C20 door and blocked doorway to right. Later lean-to at right end. Late C19 house block has 2 bays of 4-pane sashes with wedge lintels, French doors to left, and 6-panelled door in moulded surround to right. Reeded door and window surrounds inside are re-used from elsewhere.
