GOUDHURST NORTH ROAD TQ 73 NW (east side) 5/228 Ratcliffe House and Russets and stable wing attached GV II House pair. C16, clad and extended early C18 and early C19. Timber framed and tile hung, the C18 wing with red and blue brick to ground floor. Plain tiled roof. Two storeys, extended with 2 storeys and attic on brick plinth, with slight jetty and projection to upper left window bay, with moulded wooden eaves cornice, stepped up to right, to half-hipped roof, also stepped up to right at panelled stack. Four 3 light wooden casements on each floor and panelled door to centre right with flat hood on brackets. Present entries in left and right returns, with gabled porch to latter. Right return brickwork in English garden wall bond, with blue vitrified headers, as also to base of rear wing, the upper floor rebuilt C19. Older, lower wing weather boarded to rear. Interior of C18 wing: exposed late frame round-backed brick fireplace with slight coving. Brick lined cellar. Projecting to front left of the houses is the stable range, early C19 of red and blue chequered brick with slate roof, with some corrugated iron.

The lower part of the wall is an old garden wall included in the structure of the stables, left return front buttressed, with carriage openings, and multi- paned window and 2 wooden casements. The house was at sometime a public house.
