Description

This Sectra show flat was on the first floor of a 13-storey block and was completed 13 weeks after the first Sectra formwork unit had been lifted into position. The flat was one of 51 two-bedroom and 12 bed-sitting room flats contained in each block. The flat was furnished for the occasion with Brian Amos carrying out the decor. An article on the show flat describing it as the first Sectra flat to be opened was published in August 1963 in Laing's monthly newsletter 'Team Spirit'. The exact location of the site shown has not been recorded in the negative register but it is believed to be the Darnhill Estate.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
