Description

This block of maisonettes was one of four being constructed at the site for the City of Oxford, with work beginning on 4th April 1960. The site had previously been a gas works and this created challenges for the workers, as a number of tar tanks and gas main pipes were found during excavation of the site.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
