Description

The caption beneath the corresponding album print reads 'South carriageway of new Inner Ring Road looking west. On the left is the future east elevation of Blocks 2C (new Woolworth's) and 2E (at present occupied by existing portion of Woolworth's store); and on the right the future east elevation of Block 1.' Block 1 of the scheme consisted of shops with elevated access for pedestrians approaching from the city.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
