Description

Work on the Stafford By-pass started in September 1960 and was opened to traffic in December 1962. The photograph shows bridges (a B type structure in the foreground and a Fc type structure in the background) and asphalt surfacing in progress on the west carriageway.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
