Description

The headquarters of Abbey Life were constructed of reinforced concrete. When the building was finished, the design resembled a seaside pavilion, with blue-green reflective glass, balconies and railings. This photograph shows A, Frost, managing director of Abbey Life, Bryan Gregory, chairman of the building division of Laing Wessex, and Councillor W. Coe, Mayor of Bournemouth. A photograph of these dignitaries posed at the topping out ceremony was published in the October 1990 edition of 'Team Spirit', the Laing newsletter. The building was officially opened on 7th June 1991.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
