Description

The civilian airfield at Waltham opened in 1933. In 1940 it was requisitioned by the Air Ministry and was named RAF Grimsby, although it was still referred to as Waltham by service personnel and locals. During the Second World War, the site was used by various squadrons under the control of RAF Bomber Command.
