Description

The grave of Arthur Penrhyn Stanely and his wife, Augusta Stanley, residing in the Lady Chapel of Westminster Abbey, otherwise known as Henry VII's Chapel. The monument was designed by J L Pearson, and the white marble effigy by sculptor Joseph Edgar Boehm, unveiled 1884. There was previously a stained glass memorial window in this chapel, commissioned for by Lady Stanley's husband in 1877, but this was desyroyed by a blast in 1940. The inscription underneath the window still survives.
