Description

Sculpted by John Flaxman. Marble, free-standing sculpture dedicated to Admiral Howe (1726-1799). A male figure, Admiral Howe, stands in the foreground, holding a telescope in his right hand, with a lion lying to the right of him. To the left of him are two female figures knelt and reading an inscription on the side of a podium behind the man. On top of this sits the last figure, who holds a trident in their right hand and sits upon a ship.
