Description

On the board in front of Somerset House is a poster advertising performances by the actor Alfred Wigan at the Queen's Theatre. As the Queen's Theatre did not open until 1867 and because Alfred Wigan died in November 1878, the photograph must have been taken between these dates. Another poster, partially visible behind a wall, is advertising The Moonstone by Wilke Collins which was published in 1868.
