Description

The sheet shows a north elevation of the south face of the gatehouse, and a south elevation of the north face. Annotations on the sheet include a note reading 'this pier now plotted' on the north elevation of the north face and the words 'site note' at the bottom of the sheet. Amendments have been made to the arches and piers in the drawings. The survey was carried out by the Photogrammetric Unit at the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, University of York, on behalf of English Heritage. The site was surveyed in October 1984 and the drawing was plotted in February 1985.
