Description

The item is dated October 21st 1845 and is in very poor condition: the tracing paper has been mounted on cloth-backed paper in the past, and is now torn and frayed. The drawings consist of four elevations and a plan of the proposed portico, which seems to be the porte-cochere at the main entrance to the house. Parts of the drawings are hand-tinted in pink and blue ink, and they are annotated in ink and (probably later) pencil with measurements and dimensions. Another label says 'Details see drawings full size'. Although there is no signature on the drawing, the date makes it very likely to be from Thomas Cubitt.
