Description

The item is dated July 1845. The drawings consist of a plan and elevation of the iron girders in the ceiling and columns of the drawing room. The plans have been hand-tinted. An ink annotation reads 'for situation of iron girders, dimension of iron columns [illegible] see [illegible]'; the item is labelled 'TS52' in blue crayon and '180' in red ink. On the back 'iron columns drawing room' has been written in ink, and a former archive number GA/OSB:MIS/180. The edges of the item have been reinforced with tape. A fold across the middle of the drawing has also been reinforced with tape. Judging by the date and the subject matter, the item was probably drawn by the firm of Thomas Cubitt.
