The plan was originally drawn in May 1860. Drains, gas pipes and other features are drawn on a plan of the road junction in black ink. The item has been extensively annotated with other drainage details, in blue ink (after 1888), red ink, and pencil. A range of different drawing numbers have been written on: 'R/277/18' in red crayon, '4136/6' in blue crayon, and '10382 signed Arthur J. Martin 7 Victoria St' in pencil. Although there is no clear indication who created the item, it is most likely to have been the Office of Works.
