Description

The Scala Superama Cinema opened in 1964 with a single auditorium. It was renamed the Odeon Ringway Cinema in 1970 and then the Odeon Queensway Cinema in 1972. In 1983 the Cinecenta Cinema next door was incorporated into the Odeon Queensway Cinema, producing a three screen cinema. The date of this photograph is not known, though it was taken after the name was changed to Odeon Queensway in 1972 and before the cinemas closed in 1988. It is not clear whether this photograph shows the projection room of the former Cinecenta Cinema or the original Scala Superama Cinema. The building has remained vacant since the cinemas closed in 1988.
