Description

The Scala Superama Cinema opened in 1964 with a single auditorium. It was renamed the Odeon Ringway Cinema in 1970 and then the Odeon Queensway Cinema in 1972. In 1983 the Cinecenta Cinema nextdoor was incorporated into the Odeon Queensway Cinema, producing a three screen cinema. It is not clear whether this photograph was taken before or after this incorporation, though the auditorium shown is the stadium style auditorium of the original Scala Superama Cinema, later Odeon Ringway/Queensway. The cinemas closed in 1988 and have remained vacant since.
