Description

The Tower Cinema was opened in 1935. The building was designed by John Cecil Clavering as part of Harry Weedon's practice, who were heavily involved in the design of many Odeon Cinemas. The Tower Cinema included many typical features of the Odeon 'style', such as the tiled facade, but it was never operated as an Odeon. The cinema was taken over by Associated British Cinemas and was later renamed the ABC Cinema. It closed in 1968 and was used as a bingo club. The building was demolished in the 1990s.
