Description

The Clifton Cinema, later known as the Clifton Sedgley, was opened in 1937 by Sidney Clift as part of the Clifton chain. The cinema diversified into pop and variety shows in the 1950s and 1960s, and bingo sessions in the 1970s. It was closed in 1978 and the building was used as a bingo club until 1996. In 1998 it was reopened as The Clifton, a pub in the J D Wetherspoon chain.
