The Regal Cinema opened in 1937. It was designed by the Association of British Cinemas (ABC) in-house architect William Riddell Glen. The cinema was closed in 1961 and subsequently became a ten-pin bowling ally and then a bingo hall. The image depicts the building when it was derelict, which was sometime in the 1990s, after its brief period as a cash and carry wholesaler. In 2020 the building is an large Indian restaurant and food hall.
