A cinema had existed on this site since 1912. The building was remodelled in the art deco style seen in the image in 1935 and renamed the Regal Cinema. The cinema closed in the late 1950s and became a Mecca Bingo hall in the 1960s. The bingo hall closed in 1995 and the building has since been demolished.
