Description

The Wellington Picture House opened in 1921 and also contained a 13-table billiard hall and a cafe. It was initially operated independently, until the Essoldo Cinemas chain took it over in 1948. Bingo was introduced for one day a week in 1961, and the cinema closed in 1963.

It changed hands between various bingo club owners, including Essoldo, Ladbrookes and Walkers. Into the twenty first century it operated as a Riley’s snooker hall, which closed in 2012.
