Description

The Picturedrome cinema was opened in 1911 and was the town’s first purpose built movie theatre. The building was located on the site of the old Theatre Royal. The building functioned as a cinema until the 1970s, when it became a bingo hall. Bingo remained in operation at the site until 1999. After this point, the building remained largely intact and was converted into office space. In 2019, the building was converted into a social space, combining bars, food outlets and restaurants.

The image is a photograph of a drawing.
