Description

The Regal Cinema was opened in 1933 and was built upon the site of the former Olympia cinema. The cinema was designed by Archibald Hurley Robinson, a prominent cinema architect who designed a number of Art Deco cinemas in the midlands area. Hurley Robinson also designed the Rex cinema which opened in 1938 and sits a few yards away from the Regal building.

The cinema closed in 1960 and in 1963 it opened as the Coalville Bingo Hall. In 1992 it became the Flutters Bingo Hall, which remained open until 2017 after which it became the Palace Bingo. In 2020, the building remains standing and in use as a Bingo Hall.
