The Odeon Cinema first opened in 1932 under the name of the Paramount Theatre. It was designed by the architects Verity & Beverley for Paramount Pictures Ltd. It was taken over by Odeon Theatres Ltd in 1939 and re-named Odeon in 1940. The cinema closed in 2001 and has since been converted into an apartment and retail complex.
