Description

The cinema opened as the Royal Cinema in 1938 and was renamed the ABC Cinema in 1958. The cinema had a 3 manual, 8 rank Compton organ, with Dudley Savage as the cinema's organist. The auditorium was divided into a bingo hall and cinema in 1977; the organ was removed to Blackheath Halls, London in 2006. The date of this photograph is not known; it is likely that it shows the organ while it was still installed in the cinema, at a time when stalls section of the auditorium was being used as a bingo hall.
