Description

The cinema probably opened in around 1912, and operated as the Paignton Electric Picture Palace and the Paignton Picture House. It was modernised and renamed in the 1930s and 1940s, and became the Torbay Cinema in 1968. Agatha Christie is said to have been a regular patron. The cinema closed in 1999. The building is a well-preserved early purpose-built cinema.
