Description

The Capitol Theatre opened in 1929 primarily as a cinema with occasional live performances. It was briefly renamed the Classic Cinema in the 1970s and was used for bingo along with films shown in a cinema in the circle seating. The building later became a Mecca Bingo Club. Inside, the elaborate classical decoration remained largely intact in the early 21st century.
