Description

The Friars Theatre or Cinema opened in 1933, operated by Odeon Theatres. It was renamed as the Odeon in 1938, but reverted to its original name as the Friars until 1955. In the early 1980s it was altered and reopened as the Marlowe Theatre, with live performances. The building was demolished in 2009 and was replaced with a purpose-built theatre.
