Description

The Empire Theatre opened in 1916. It was renamed the Palace Theatre in 1917 and presented both films and live theatre. During the Second World War it was used by the Entertainments National Service Association and was known as the Barracks Theatre. The Palace Theatre closed in 1986 and was later converted into a nightclub.
