Description

The Regal Cinema opened in 1928 and was soon taken over by Associated British Cinemas. Odeon took over in 1945, but its reopening was delayed due to bomb damage. It was reopened in September 1945 as the Odeon Cinema, or Odeon Marble Arch, after refurbishment. The cinema was the first in the UK to screen a 3D film, in 1953. The Odeon Cinema closed in 1964. The site was redeveloped and a new Odeon Cinema was opened, along with shops and an office block. This photograph is a copy; the date and original photographer are not known.
