Description

The Forum Theatre was opened in 1934. It was designed by John Stanley Beard and A Douglas Clare, and is similar in design to the Forum Theatre in Kentish Town, which was also designed by Beard and also opened in 1934. The cinema was renamed the ABC Cinema in 1961 and underwent many name changes in subsequent years. The cinema closed in 2008 as the Empire Cinema. The auditorium and foyers were demolished in 2009, though the original facade was retained. The site was to be redeveloped as a cinema, shops, restaurants and flats.
