Description

The Ritz Cinema opened in 1935. It was taken over by Odeon in 1935 and was renamed Odeon Cinema in 1944. The original auditorium was split into two screens in 1964, and it was divided again in 1976. By 1988 the cinema had 6 screens. During this later period, when the number of screens was increasing, it was also known as the Odeon Film Centre. The cinema was closed in 2001 and the building was demolished in 2012.
