Description

The Carlton Cinema was designed by William Riddell Glen for Associated British Cinemas Ltd. It opened in 1939 and was renamed ABC Cinema in 1959. The cinema was converted into three screens in 1974. During the 1980s it was renamed the Cannon Cinema, then MGM Cinema, then Virgin Cinema, and finally reverted to ABC Cinema. The cinema was closed in 1990 and the building was demolished in the early 21st century.
