Description

The Garston Empire Theatre, or simply Empire Theatre, opened in 1915. Films were originally part of the variety entertainment at the theatre, but these stopped between 1916-1918. In late 1918, the theatre began to be used solely for films. At this time, the building's name was probably changed to the Empire Cinema. The final film was shown in 1962. The building was then used as a bingo hall until 2009.
