Description

The Empire Cinema opened in 1922. It is believed to be the first cinema in Shropshire to be equipped for sound. In 1973 the building was refurbished. After several takeovers, it was renamed Cannon Cinema in 1989, then Virgin Cinema in 1995, and finally ABC Cinema in 1996. The cinema closed in 1998, and the building was converted into a restaurant.
