Description

Holborn Viaduct Station was opened in 1874, and was part of the London, Chatham and Dover Railway. In 1877 a hotel, designed by L H Isaacs, was opened to form the front facade of the station. The building was bombed in 1941, and subsequently demolished, to be replaced by an office block. The station was eventually closed in 1990, and was replaced by the City Thameslink station.
