St John the Baptist Church in Adel is one of the most complete Norman village churches in Yorkshire. The gable of the south doorway contains sculpture depicting Christ in Majesty, the Lamb, and the four symbols of the evangelists. The doorway is arched, with four orders. The print has a monograph and date in the bottom left hand corner, identifying the photographer as George Fowler Jones.
