Description

There is another relief on the opposite porch wall, showing the other apostles and an angel above. Malmesbury Abbey dates from the early 7th century, and was in use until its dissolution in 1539, despite most of the structure being damaged by the tower's collapse in the early 16th century. The nave of the abbey became the present Parish Church of St Mary and St Aldheim.
