Description

Sir George Gilbert Scott was commissioned to 'rethink' Salisbury Cathedral, and he redesigned much of the choir area, including the removal of a late-eighteenth century choir screen and reredos by James Wyatt, replacing them with a filigree iron choir screen and the reredos here pictured. In turn, Scott's remodelled architectural elements were removed in the mid-nineteenth century, when a new school of thought dictated thatthere should be an uninterrupted view from nave to choir, high altar and Lady Chapel.
