Description

In 1869 work was undertaken to lower the green to the north side of Westminster Abbey, and during this work the Roman sarcophagus was discovered. The Latin inscription on the side reads: 'In memory of Valerius Amandinus, made by Valerius Superventor and Valerius Marcellus for their father'.
