The architect W H Romaine-Walker designed the Palladian-style Moreton Hall and it is said that it was inspired by Wilton House near Salisbury. The house was built for the Eton-educated American Charles Tuller Garland, so of the co-founder of New York's National City Bank. This photograph was taken by Philip Eugene Debenham and is likely to have been commissioned by either the architect Romain-Walker or the owner Charles Tuller Garland.
