Description

This windmill was first recorded as being in existence in 1561 and was demolished in 1916. King Charles I is said to have watched the Battle of Edge Hill, the first pitched battle of the English Civil War, from the vantage point of the windmill on Sunday the 23rd of October 1642. Notes on the reverse of the photographic mount indicate that this image was taken by either Bernard Moore of Birmingham or P J Deakin.
