Description

The memorial plaque and bust to William Shakespeare hangs above the tombs of Shakespeare and his wife, Anne Hathaway, in the chancel of the church. It is believed to have been commissioned by Shakespeare's daughter, Susanna and her husband Dr John Hall. This photograph has been printed with a title reading 'American Window, Holy Trinity Church, Stratford on Avon' along the bottom edge by the photographers, James Valentone and Sons Limited, but this has been incorrectly added to this particular print. The American Window is a larger window situated in St James' Chapel in the south transept of the church, gifted to the church by the United States of America in the early twentieth century.
