Description

The photograph was taken by George Washington Wilson and Company. This late fifteenth century timber framed house was the childhood home of the poet and playwright, William Shakespeare. The house was acquired by the now Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in the mid-nineteenth century and was restored in 1858. It is now a museum.

Archival History

Donated to the collection of the National Buildings Record by a Mrs Davies, accessioned on the 4th of September 1953.
