A description beneath the photograph reads "Augustinus Aglio, Cremonensis, pinxit, A.D. 1808. Photographed by W. D. Howard in 1864". Augustine Aglio (1777-1857) was an Italian painter, decorator and lithographer who moved to England in the early 19th century and was responsible for the decoration of a number of houses and theatres from 1804 onwards.
