Description

The library and museum were named after the merchant and banker William Brown who met the cost of construction in the 1850s. The building was badly damaged by enemy action in May 1941 and rebuilt behind the preserved facade.

Archival History

This photograph was withdrawn from the open Red Box Collection for conservation reasons during the 2011-12 Red Box Project. The original copyright was held by Liverpool City Council.
