Description

This photograph shows the Grand Hotel, built between 1863 and 1867, surrounded by scaffolding awaiting the addition of the attic storeys and roof. In the foreground the Valley Gardens, close to St Nicholas Cliff, are also shown under construction. In the middle distance Cliff Bridge and Cliff Bridge Terrace can be seen.
